Dr. Dickson

Jamie Dickson, Psy.D. was born and raised in the Nashville, Tennessee area. She earned her Bachelor's degree from Middle Tennessee State University in 1998. Dr. Dickson began her graduate work in psychology at the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology in 2001. In 2003 she transferred to the Georgia School of Professional Psychology (GSPP) where she completed her graduate training. Dr. Dickson earned her Master’s Degree in 2005 and her Psy.D. in 2008.

Dr. Dickson completed her pre-doctoral field training in a variety of settings, including Northwest Georgia Regional Hospital, where she spent a year working on the adult forensic unit completing psychological evaluations and risk assessments, Devereux Georgia Treatment Network, where she worked for two years conducting assessments as well as individual, group, and family therapy with children and adolescents in residential treatment and a number of psychologists in private practice, where she also completed evaluations of adults and children.

Dr. Dickson completed her pre-doctoral internship at Florida State Hospital (FSH) in Chattahoochee, Florida.  At FSH, Dr. Dickson worked on both civil and forensic inpatient units, where she was responsible for forensic evaluations addressing questions of competency to stand trial and malingering. Additionally, she completed a rotation in the Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) program, where she learned to conduct individual and group therapy in adherence with the DBT model. Dr. Dickson also spent a portion of her internship at the Dozier School for Boys, a DJJ facility, where she conducted individual therapy, assessment, and co-led group therapy for boys convicted of sexual offenses.  

After receiving her doctoral degree, Dr. Dickson completed her postdoctoral training at Devereux Georgia Treatment Network. She was then offered a position as a staff psychologist. In this position, Dr. Dickson's responsibilities included managing an individual caseload, conducting specialized group therapy (Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Aggression Replacement Training), supervising master’s level clinicians and practicum students, assisting in program development, and overseeing completion of psychological assessments. Dr. Dickson remained in her position at Devereux from September 2009 until she joined Forensic Specialty Group in June 2013.

Dr. Dickson continues to work as a consulting psychologist at the Devereaux Georgia Treatment Network. She is also an adjunct faculty member at the Georgia School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University and a regular instructor in Georgia's Crisis Intervention Team program for law enforcement officers.  
Dr. Dickson provides services on a volunteer basis at St. Joseph's Mercy Care clinic at City of Refuge shelter for women and their children.


Dr. Dickson is a licensed Psychologist who practices primarily in the area of Forensic Assessment.  While Dr. Dickson also performs evaluations with adults, she specializes in assessment of psycho-legal issues in cases that involve children and adolescents in both Juvenile and Superior Court.

Dr. Dickson also completed the learning collaborative training and is rostered in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
